I use the camera as a way to see the truth.
Being shy as a kid I could hide behind the lens to spy on people,
to capture them unawares when they revealed themselves. People reveal themselves in many ways - through their faces, their clothes, and the places they live as well as the things they keep, display or discard. When I have a camera in my hand, I notice more. I slow down enough to see the details and the beauty there. What looks ordinary can be pretty extraordinary on closer inspection. There's beauty in everything. It's my meditation practice - the art of being here. |
